Electromobility: only clean with clean energy

Electromobility is only sustainable when the vehicles are charged with clean energy. Therefore, naturstrom offers a charging station network with more than 200 publicly accessible green power charging stations throughout Germany. Together with mobility service providers we aditionally push the extension and distribution of climate- and eco-friendly mobility concepts further.

Sustainably mobile with naturstrom

Electric vehicles enable emission-free traffic and thus make an important contribution to climate and environmental protection. But only when they are charged with clean energy. Because otherwise emissions like CO2 or fine particles aren’t created on the streets anymore, but in coal and gas power plants – that doesn’t change the climate and environmental impact. For this reason, naturstrom offers Germany’s first green power charging station network via which electric vehicles can be mobile throughout the country with naturstrom.

Nationwide naturstrom charging stations for clean energy

With the free naturstrom charging card, naturstrom customers can not only charge naturstrom at home, but also at more than 600 stations throughout Germany, provided by our partners Allego and E-Wald. Among those are numerous quick-charging stations, at which every common electric vehicle can be charged.

At the same time, owners of the naturstrom charging card are provided access to more than 100.000 public charging stations in Europe. A regularly updated general map which shows the stations supplied with naturstrom can be found on the naturstrom web page.

The electricity billing is done one-stop, fair and transparently at a European standard price. We pay for all accruing roaming charges. Each quarter, electric vehicle drivers receive a clear bill, listing all the charging actions done with the NATUSTROM charging card.

Pioneer for sustainable mobility solutions

naturstrom is also a pioneer in the area of electromobility. As early as 2011, when the first serial production electric cars were released in Germany, we began to switch our fleet to electric vehicles, which are naturally charged with naturstrom. For many years, we’ve supplied more and more publicly accessible charging stations all over the country, like for instance one of Germany’s first quick-charging stations on Potsdamer Platz in Berlin. Since then, through cooperations with car manufacturers like the BMW AG and Mitsubishi Motors Germany, charging infrastructure service providers and electric car sharing providers, we’ve made a major contribution to developing and distributing climate- and eco-friendly mobility concepts in Germany. In 2017, we supplied the trains of the alternative train operator Locomore with naturstrom for the first time. In the future we further want to support new sustainable traffic concepts.

Switch to electromobility: support for households and businesses

naturstrom works together with different car manufacturers, charging infrastructure service providers as well as electromobility associations. For instance, BMW recommends us for all electrical BMW vehicles. Furthermore, we’ve supported households as well as businesses for many years with numerous offers in their transition to e-mobility. Customers that apply a naturstrom sticker to their electric vehicle for instance get a yearly electricity credit from us. Moreover, through our partners we offer special conditions when purchasing a charging station and advise on the selection of the model and location.

Electromobility: example electric car

Whereas an internal combustion engine burns fuels like petrol to drive a vehicle, an electronic engine gets the necessary energy from a rechargeable battery. It translates more than 90 per cent of the energy into motion – with an internal combustion engine it’s only one third. Thanks to the broad load and rev range, electric cars not only offer a high effectiveness, but also a fast acceleration from a standing start. So far, most vehicles can already do several hundred kilometres without any problems and without a break. Top models already offer a range of 400 to 600 kilometres today. Electric cars will probably have the same range as conventional vehicles in only a few years.
